The trainer behind Dog Trainer Steve — Choice-Based K9 Care in Hillsboro, Oregon.
Steven Hebert is the trainer most of Hillsboro knows simply as Dog Trainer Steve. He has been working with reactive, anxious, and frustrated dogs — and the owners who love them — since 2021.
Steve doesn’t believe in quick fixes or compliance through pressure. He believes dogs are constantly making decisions, and that with the right environment, the right patience, and an owner who knows what to look for, they almost always make good ones. That approach has a name: Choice-Based K9 Care.
He works out of his home in Hillsboro and a few nearby fields — settings calm enough for a dog to think and for an owner to learn. Steve offers private training, boarding, and board & train programs for clients across Hillsboro and the greater Portland metro area.
The throughline in all of it: dog training is really human training. Steve trains the people around the dog, so the change holds long after the session ends.
